Huh?
A what? A Marketing strategy or plan, or what I refer to as a script. Because your business is a character you are creating and should be directing through each scene. A complete marketing script should detail how to adapt to economic challenges, prepare for evolving competitors and lastly, but most importantly lay out how you’re go to interact with your community!
Developing your marketing plan may seem like a boring mundane process that ranks up there with paying taxes. But, what if it could be fun….
So my idea of “fun” may be an exaggeration but I do have a very quick way for you to whip up a successful marketing plan just in time for the holidays.
Just like every great script, you need a hero, action and a great story line that engages your audience.
Writing your Marketing Script
The first thing you want to do is create a timeline of events
Settings Step 1.
Write down every way you can think of as places you could connect with your customer.
Magazines, Social Media, Organizations, Noncompetitive Businesses with similar audience etc.
Plot Step 2.
Write down every reason a customer would use your products or services. If you have many options available you should do this for each one but this is suppose to be quick so you can just focus on your high sellers or sales items.
And you’re almost done….
Now translate this story line again and again, across your website, throughout your marketing and branding.
Do use your customer’s pain and frustration as attention getters, then lead that potential customer to the end of the scene where they become their own hero.
Do be a supporting character
Don’t be the hero!
Insider tip: Like any great movie you should have multiple scenes. Customer’s decide to purchase your service or product for different reasons. Your marketing should be specific to each situation.
Good Luck in your Holiday Marketing!
